| My instructor has not posted anything on my class pages. What should I do? |
| If there is nothing posted in your class page, it could be because the first day of classes is still more than two weeks away. Most instructors will not have information posted until about two weeks before the semester begins, and some instructors don't always post information. Please check again within the two week window. If there is still no information posted, contact the instructor directly to request it. |
| There is no instructor listed for my course. What should I do? |
| If there is no instructor listed for your class it is probably because the department has not yet assigned an instructor to teach it. Once an instructor is assigned the information on your class page will be updated. |
| My class page on the distance education website is telling me to log in. What does this mean? |
| Class pages on the distance education website are divided into two sections: the "Class Preview" tab and the "Class Details" tab. In order to view the "Class Details" tab, you will need to first obtain a login ID and password by completing the Pathway to DE. To begin, click the "Home" button on this site and follow the instructions for new users. |
| I finished the Pathway to DE, but I cannot find the link(s) to my class information page(s). |
| As you review each section of the Pathway, be sure to click the "Done" button whenever one appears. However, some sections do not have one. This updates our records to show that you completed each section and ultimately completed the entire Pathway. Until you have done this, you will not be able to view your class pages.
|
| There is no contact information listed for my instructor. How can I contact him/her? |
| Try looking in the UH online directory or the faculty directory on our site.
If your class will use WebCT Vista or Blackboard, your instructor may prefer to be contacted using the built-in communication tools in that system. If possible, log in to Vista or Blackboard after the first day of classes and try contacting the instructor that way.
Otherwise, contact Distance Education Student Services at 713-743-3327 for assistance, or call the instructor's department.
|
| I called or e-mailed my instructor and have not received a reply. What should I do? |
| First, allow ample time for the instructor to respond. It is appropriate to wait 48 hours for a response before taking further steps.
Try contacting the instructor a different way. For example, if you have not received a response to your voice mail message, try e-mail (and vice versa). Most instructors prefer e-mail for communicating with students.

|
| What do I do when I am at the end of a section? |
| When you reach the end of a section, look for a button called "Done." Only certain sections have a "Done" button. Click this button to update our records to show that you finished that section. You will not have to repeat it in the future. Next, go back to the menu on the left and click the next section heading in your menu to continue. |
| On the page called “My Formats,” there is nothing listed for me. |
| Be sure to select the correct semester from the list.
If you still do not see any information on this page, check to see that your schedule has been properly updated on this system. Go to the "My Course Schedule" link at the top of the page, select the correct semester and enter the distance education classes you are taking. To add a class to your schedule, first click "Add Class" and enter the section number. Then click "Update." When you are finished, click "Done."

| I forgot my username or password. What should I do? |
| If you know your username, but forgot your password, go to the “Home” page and click the button called "Password Reminder." Follow the instructions to have your password e-mailed to the address stored in our database for you.
If you do not remember your username, contact Distance Education Student Services at 713-743-3372 for assistance.
|
| I went to the WebCT Vista/Blackboard site but I cannot find my course. What should I do? |
| Most WebCT Vista or Blackboard accounts are not activated until the first day of classes. Check again every couple of days to see if your class has been loaded.
If you registered late (after the first day of classes), it can take up to three business days for your account to be activated.
It's a good idea to check the myUH PeopleSoft website to be sure you are properly enrolled in the course.
For additional Vista/Blackboard assistance, call 713-743-1411.
